You will be able to weight bear as tolerated right after surgery. You may want a cane or walker for support until you feel steady on your feet.

Q: How often should I ice?

l would ice as much as possible. The more you ice, the less swelling, the less pain you will have after surgery. Please make sure there is clothing between your skin and the ice/ice machine.

Q: What kind of clothes should I wear?

I would wear loose fitting pants. The leg will be wrapped with an ace bandage.

Q: Do I need to take the pain medicine?

Yes, l would take the painmedicine every 4-6 hours for the first 3 or 4 days to prevent breakthrough pain. You can transition to Tylenol as needed after that.
